Life Update

Recently, I posted a literary update on T.W.N. announcing the future release of an new short story. There have been a lot of things to deal with lately in life, and some of my projects (outside of writing) are at a standstill right now. This is more than likely due, at least in part, to... Return to posting, Upcoming Lit. News!

The Whiteraven Net

After a period of absence from most social media, I am officially returning to updating T.W.N. and Superlative Deviation! I’m busily trying to complete a project for release here on the website but hope to share an update in a week or so.

In keeping with the season, I will be posting a few items to S.D. that revolve around the Angelic New Year, which I and others who study with my personal mentor observe. It might not bee as in-depth as I’d like it to be, since my main focus is elsewhere; but I am celebrating and wanted to share a taste of the positive vibes.

Stay tuned for the literary update and more news later this month!

Lit. Update: Future Steps

New literary update.

The Whiteraven Net

It feels good to finally have my poetry book released in some form. However, the work doesn’t stop there. Now I face the challenges of promoting it.

As I already knew, “self-publishing” requires you to fund most of the work yourself. It gets disheartening and a bit stressful, but it’s what I have to do for now. At least I’ve accomplished one of my major life goals and can continue to build on it. It’s wonderful to be able to look back on the progress I’ve made, not just in writing but in life.

Now comes the constant effort needed to balance these new parts of my daily life. Plus, I’m renewing my efforts to get a part-time job to support my financial needs. For those readers who are also hoping to publish their work in some form, I highly advise that you get and maintain a day job. Don’t…

Lit. Update: Reality, Research, and Future Surprise

The Whiteraven Net

As fellow writers will know, the submission process can be daunting and time consuming. I have been keeping track of the dates of my various submissions and am also in the process of investigating alternative publishing platforms – specifically for the poetry book. I’m not sure exactly how to release it yet. There’s still a lot to learn. For the cozy mystery, I definitely hope to have it published traditionally (which is ideally what I want for all my work, regardless of genre).

Invariably, people who don’t work in publishing or the literary field have an unrealistic idea of what it means to be a writer; and writers have an unrealistic idea of what it means to be an author. Recently, I dove deeper into research by reading David Comfort’sAn Insider’s Guide to Publishing. While I don’t approve of the language he often uses, I do highly recommend…

Lit. Update – Mystery and Poetry

I am happy to report that the new edit of my first book is nearly complete! For those who don't know, it is a cozy mystery that's been in creation for some time. I'm currently working on the final chapter and very excited about starting the submission process again.   On the side, I... Continue Reading →

By the day: Reading, it’s not an old school thing…

An important article and some inspiration and advice in A Life Of Virtue. My work even gets a mention! Thanks, Alura!

Spiritually Awkward

Books are so valuable, I don’t think people even really realize it. There was a time where certain books weren’t even allowed. A long time ago, the church as well as the government used to determine what the people were allowed to have, in terms of education and resources of information. There was even a time that you weren’t allowed to own a Bible yourself!

As the world around us took shape throughout the centuries, different books and topics went through so many challenges. People had to abide by what the law said. Unfortunately, in a lot of ways it is still like this. There is the notion that we have more freedom now than we used to. I suppose it is true to some degree… But censorship is still a tremendous problem in terms of education, spirituality, and what people are allowed to know in terms of truth.

I…
