For everyone struggling out there who feel like they’re alone. You’re not. I’m learning from the lessons in this post, too.

I give thanks today for:
- the chance to learn to balance my life better, making time to keep up with my spiritual health, as well.
- the guidance I’ve received over all these years that has led me to where I am and away from the person I used to be.
- the beautiful sunrise I experienced this morning.
- the fact that there is no limit to where or when I can pray and talk to the Heavens about what I think, feel, and wonder about.
- the challenge to take on more responsibility in my life and work hard to create what my higher self wants.
-
Today, I give thanks for:
- the recent struggles that are teaching me things about myself
- a working dishwasher so I can clean dishes and work on assignments at the same time!
- the way the neighborhood cats make me laugh
- the determination to motivate myself to get up early and watch the sunrise
- the candles we burn instead of electricity

If people were to get a peek into my activities this year, they probably wouldn’t think I was celebrating at all. While the Grianstad festival does include the day most people now call Halloween, we’ve never observed that day. Our festival is about giving thanks, helping others, and preparing for the winter – not celebrating the horror in life, which is what everybody around us seems to enjoy. I’ve never understood that, which is one reason I have felt motivated to do something completely different.
Since this is a harvest festival, I’m celebrating by taking stock of my blessings and using them to the fullest. Most would only include things like food and physical items, but my main interest is the lessons I’ve learned over the years. I’m checking in with myself. Am I applying those lessons in daily life? And if so, is there any way I could improve? I try to see if there are some that I’ve missed, and there always are. Then I try to apply those, as well.
While I don’t always do a good job, the whole point is to try. Every day gives you a chance to be better than you were yesterday value every second you have. If we truly lived to the fullest the way our higher selves would, I sincerely doubt we’d have ninety percent of the strife and drama we have in our lives – because we would see it for what it truly is. That’s one of my biggest goals in life from now on, and I’ll be working towards it a little more each day.

Hello, people! I’m so glad to be back with some personal posts and literary updates. So much has happened lately, I hardly know where to begin.
First of all, I hope everyone is safe and secure this holiday season. Please take the time to draw closer to family and bring back some of the innocence and magic that this time of year used to bring. Remember: it’s not the holiday that’s changed; it’s the values many have adopted. Be the change you wish to see. As Alura says – heaven gives you the light, but you have to care for it. If you’re honestly doing your best, they will help you. If you need to connect with like-minded people and find some good support and love, please feel free to check out Alura’s group on her site. Believe me, we all have our bad days. That’s doesn’t matter, though, because we’re still there for each other. Go to the “Alura Cein’s Platforms” page here on the blog to sign up.Secondly, I have been fighting to reach my goals; and believe me there are times when it feels nearly impossible. That’s an illusion, though, because the truth is I am moving forward. Opposing forces just make it look as if I’m not. Living a virtuous spiritual life and working the path to higher self doesn’t mean living a fairy tale life. It’s challenging because it feeds your soul – saves your soul in many ways, I think. Recently, I have renewed enthusiasm (though the bad days still come and go). I’m happy to say that the twelfth chapter of my novel is half finished! I’m no longer revising the original. This is all-new content so it’s a lot of work. I’m also trying to organize a couple future projects and making plans for my new job search that will start after the new year.
Lastly, my author site The Whiteraven Net is about to reach one-thousand hits! There are also fifty WordPress bloggers following it now. I’m amazed I have hit these milestones and want to thank everyone who has shown an interest in my poetry. I’ll be releasing even more soon, along with a couple of surprises!
