I have a confession to make: I’m one of those people who sets unreasonable goals for myself and then get aggravated when I can’t reach them. Recently, I’ve been taking stock of myself to see what traits and habits I need to let go of – frivolous aspirations, negative thoughts, pass times that are really just ways to waste time. While I don’t seem to have many of those left, it’s good to do a review to make sure that I haven’t formed new bad habits.
However, I did make one discovery. When I asked myself if I was lacking in compassion, the answer was “yes – for myself”. I’ve eliminated several toxic ideas about myself but not all. I know from one of my last readings from Alura that there are a couple of shadow self issues I need to finish taking care of. It can be very overwhelming when a person has so many things they want to change about themselves, but it’s important to take one small step at a time. I have to keep reminding myself to not be in such a rush. If I hurry, I’ll make mistakes and miss out on the rest of life. And I certainly don’t want to do that!

For several years, I ran a Tumblr blog originally called “The Little Star Project”. Some time afterwards, I changed the name to “SuperlativeDeviation – the Blog”. The page was dedicated primarily to sharing the work and inspiration of my best friend and mentor Alura Cein, who also has a couple of blogs on Tumblr. However, circumstances (and the world) changed in those two years.
Late last year, I began earnestly disconnecting from all social media – effectively avoiding becoming a member of the Indoor Generation. This included, most recently, closing my accounts on Tumblr and Facebook and even recreating my own online literary platform, whiteravennet.wordpress.com . Still, I very much wanted to continue giving my friend the support and encouragement she needed. So I came up with the idea of recreating my Tumblr page as a WordPress site – a kind of fan page / personal blog that would be kept separate from The Whiteraven Net. This allows me to give my poetry and short stories their own space as I work towards completing my novels, but at the same time I have an area where I can share the joy of working with this amazing woman.
At long last, the new site is completed! Superlative Deviation will be a more personal space where I’ll share a few of my own experiences, as well as articles and links to Alura’s work and videos. Other content that I previously would post to social media will appear here, as well. Be sure to follow for frequent updates and surprises. It’s going to be an interesting ride!

March 7, 2019 “You know that container your organic spinach is in or whatever food product that is mass produced and adding up by the billions that the recyling company wont take??? These companies want to save on profit as their pockets keep filling yet the greed has no end towards the destruction of our own planet. How can we leave a planet filled with filth to our grandchildren and future generations?? And its our responsability because we fuel the system and are allowing this because we havent made enough stink about it. So im challenging everyone to pull out their plastic containers that are not recylable and call the number on the side and tell the company you want recyclable packaging! Also call your political leaders and government organizations that have power and we voted for to take care of things. We are all on this planet together and we cannot always look the other way for it to continue. Let’s be the change we wish to see!!! We can do this!!”
