Surprise! I’m bringing back a project I did a while back called The True Sacred Space and am giving it new life as a long-running series. Today, we’ll start with how my favorite holiday went this year.
The Angelic End-of-Year Festival is my favorite holy day. I always chuckle when I say this because in truth, it lasts forty days and forty nights. This year, I’d hoped to accomplish a long list of goals for the season; but Heaven had other ideas.
Employment Challenge and the Future
It started when I received some guidance via a reading from Alura. Since then, I’ve been working hard to ramp up a secondary career that will (eventually) bring in extra income. While writing is my primary career, I’m not yet able to earn enough to live off of.
As long-time readers of my blog and author page will know, I’ve been job hunting for quite a long time now. While I’ve been able to earn a few dollars here and there, gainful employment has proved elusive. I know others who are in a similar situation and are very disheartened by the state of the job market – if you can even call it a job market anymore.
My reading also raised concerns about the impact of the current atmospheric energies on my spiritual body. I’m financially unable to get energy work done more than once a year. If I managed to land an outside job, the build-up of external energy would eventually impact my health. This would lead to things such as illness, time off work – and therefore, loss of pay – and unexpected bills created by health problems.
The best option was to focus on work-from-home opportunities and try to build up a writing business of some sort. This would also help my mother, as we continue to share the apartment. It will give her peace of mind knowing that someone is keeping an eye on things and accomplishing basic household tasks (cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, etc.) that she’s not able to do because of her hours.
Creating the Job and Lack of “Time”
A writing business takes a lot of time and effort to start up, particularly if you’ve never done something like it before. After a while, I was able to find something that sounded more like what the Heavens and my guides were suggesting and went for it. I’m not happy with it, but I do it anyway because I have faith it will lead to something greater down the road.
At the moment, I’m spending a lot of time reading and learning, which can make me anxious because I worry about it taking too much time. I also have concerns about finances and being able to contribute to the household in other ways. Having come from the family background I do, I believe I might have a phobia about being the type of person who doesn’t contribute. I need to remember that I’m forging my own path by learning from my own and other’s mistakes. I’ve made my choice to do better.
That’s the upside. The downside is that I’ve had less time and energy to do the things I had hoped to do this season. And the fact that “they” are speeding time up more and more doesn’t exactly help matters. It seems both my mother and I have been working all the hours of the day – weekdays and weekends – all this year. We seldom go out anymore except to run errands or keep appointments. Even then, I end up doing a lot of stuff by myself, which gets lonely after a while.
Making Time
A few weeks ago, we chose to go to the bookstore for some tea and a chat. It was the first time in months that we’d done anything fun. We did have to choose to do it, though. There were plenty of other things we could have gotten done, but we decided “downtime” was more important. Sometimes, I do wonder if not getting out more is bad; but then I remind myself that this is temporary. Things will improve. That’s what we’re working for.
During the same trip, we also made time to check out one of our local thrift shops and were rewarded with a few things we needed and one item we had wanted but never expected to find. That was a happy day.
I’ve also made a point to decorate for the season, even if it’s nothing more than making our door wreath and putting certain colors on our altar. We also kept up the tradition of keeping a candle lit for as many hours of the day and night as possible for the Deities honored during the forty days and forty nights of the festival.

Doing these small things really kept our morale up. We felt revitalized and not so disconnected from the traditions. I’m happy we overcame these obstacles and wonder what next year has in store.
The Value of November
Sadly, many these days have made a habit of jumping right into Christmas, choosing to completely disregard Thanksgiving and all of late fall as if it doesn’t exist. I think this is a serious mistake, particularly in light of the increased speed with which time is being moved forward.
While we don’t celebrate the fact that many Natives were kidnapped, enslaved, and killed by early settlers (not all settlers, but some) – and while Grianstad is a more appropriate version of “Thanksgiving”, in our opinion – we value this time as a rest period to help come down from the excitement of the previous forty days. Even though we weren’t able to do very much this year, the festival still held a certain energy. And it’s nice to be able to relax after that.
It’s also time to start cleaning up and making last-minute preparations for winter. This is the last chance to get everything done before the colder weather creates new difficulties. Even if this winter is not very cold, there are still things we’re watching out for – both seasonally and out in the world. Also, the shorter days of the season are even shorter now. Therefore, November is a very important month that we don’t ignore.
Now, let’s see what happens during the dead zone…
This tag was created by one of my favorite Youtubers, Autumn Cozy, back in 2017. I thought it would be fun to respond to this particular tag as a blog post because my answers seem too long to put in the comment section.
“AUTUMN TAG 2017!“
1. Candy corn: Good or gross? A: I’ve never been big on sweets, even as a child – but the one time I tried candy corn, I didn’t care for it at all. If I could only choose one fall-themed snack or dessert, it would be pumpkin pie.
2. If you could live in a place where it were autumn all the time, would you? A: Up until a few years ago, I would’ve said yes – more accurately, I wanted there to be only two seasons: fall and winter. I always hated summer, and spring was non-existent growing up. Also, I suffer from allergies which is another reason to prefer cooler weather and lower pollen counts. However, I’ve recently gained more appreciation for the other seasons and have made a point of not letting my discomfort prevent me from connecting to the balance they bring in nature. So my answer, now, would be no.
3.Tea, coffee, cider, or hot chocolate? A: This is a hard one! I’ve always hated coffee and only recently found one I enjoy. I’m not big on cider but love teas and hot chocolate. I also sometimes drink traditionally made Mayan ceremonial cacao. However, if I had to choose only between tea and hot chocolate, I’d probably go with tea. I prefer consuming herbal blends regularly over sweet concoctions and plan on trying my hand at making my own tea eventually.
4. Favorite movies to watch in the autumn? A: Oh, boy. That depends on the mood. I don’t want to list the spooky-season ones that everybody else mentions. So, I’ve made my list a little broader. Note: We have a VHS and DVD collection and therefore can watch most of our favorite movies and shows for free all year round. There are a few that either haven’t been released on DVD or might be harder to find but can be seen for free on YouTube. I’ve provided links below.
Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone (original)
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
Snoopy Come Home
Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown!
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein
The Invisible Man (1933)
The Wolfman (1941)
5. What’s your favorite autumn color? A: Berry, plum, and wine colors. (Yes, I know she said one color; but I can’t pick just one!)
6. What’s your Hogwarts house? A: I have to chuckle because I’m not that interested in Harry Potter, though I do have all the original films. I re-watched Autumn’s video to see whether she took a quiz or just named her favorite house. She took a quiz. So, I found a random one and was sorted into Hufflepuff. Apparently, only 26% of the participants on that site ended up in that house.
7. What’s your favorite ‘BER’ month? A: After much consideration, I’ll have to go with November. Even though I love the end of September and all of October (when fall is in full swing!), those months can get pretty busy for me. There’s a lot of preparation and excitement in my household during those months. Also, my birthday is in October, towards the end of our end-of-year festival. So it’s nice when things begin to slow down in November.
8. Halloween or Christmas? Why? A: On the surface, this may seem like a question that doesn’t apply to me; but it does. We do observe Samhain (the original Celtic celebration) on the same day as Halloween. In our home, it’s a low-key, simple affair. The focus is on history, our ancestors, honoring the forgotten dead, and remembering to not take our living family and friends for granted. We never enjoyed the consumerism and mad rush during Christmas. Instead, we celebrate Yule, which is similar in some ways but quieter. I think I prefer Yule / Christmas because even though we don’t have family to celebrate with anymore, it feels really good to have a holiday that boosts our spirits and brings people together during such a dark time of year. If only everyone tried to be that way every day of the year!
9. What’s your least favorite things about the fall? A: Well, I don’t have any problem with it! The fact that so many people complain about the colder weather used to irritate me, though. I understand it’s a problem for some, but it also brings so many beautiful sights and scents that other seasons don’t.
10. Favorite autumn songs? A: I don’t associate any particular song with this time of year. We do play smooth jazz a bit more frequently during the colder months, and I’ve found videos and playlists of wonderful 1940’s-1950’s songs about fall. Side note: we have a CD collection and don’t always rely on YouTube for our music. It’s nice to turn the other devices off and just sit with our radio and a good book.
11. Favorite fall dessert? A: Do you have to ask? Pumpkin pie! As long as they make it correctly – which some people don’t. I like my slice with cold, plain almond milk.
12. What’s your go-to autumn makeup? A: I rarely wear makeup at any time of year. When I do put something on just to give myself a change of pace, it’s usually just a little eyeliner, mascara, and a subtle eyeshadow. It brightens my eyes but still looks natural.
There you have it! I may still do a video response to this tag either this year or next year, but I really wanted to use it as a way to ease into my seasonal content here on the blog.
Thank you, Autumn, for the inspiration and beautiful videos. Feel free to check out her channel and join in! Kindly give her full credit in your response.
